Reverend
David E. Allen is the new pastor of
Holy Family Parish in
Port Allen. He succeeds the Reverend Henry C. Vavasseur, who is retiring. Father
Allen, has been pastor of
St. Jude the Apostle Parish
in Baton Rouge, and before that as pastor of
St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
Parish in Livonia. One unique ministry Father Allen undertakes is that of
"Clergy Health Minister," assisting diocesan priests and deacons in caring for
their physical and emotional wellbeing; he will continue in that role.

Reverend Christopher
J. Decker has been appointed the new pastor of the clustered Parishes of
St. James in St. James
and St. Philip in
Vacherie. This is his first pastorate. In this position he succeeds Father Louis
Oubre. Father Decker, 28, has served for the past year as parochial vicar and
later as administrator of
St. Thomas More Parish in Baton Rouge. He was ordained a priest in 2007, and
also has served for one year each as parochial vicar at Immaculate
Conception Parish in Denham Springs and then at
St. Jude the Apostle Parish
in Baton Rouge.

Reverend Howard R. Adkins has been appointed pastor of Mater Dolorosa Parish in Independence. After his ordination in 2007 Father Adkins served first as parochial vicar of the cluster of St. Ann Parish in Napoléonville, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Plattenville, and St. Philomena Parish in Labadieville. For the past year he has served as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Baton Rouge. |
Reverend Michael J. Alello, also ordained in 2007, will become pastor of St. Philomena Parish in Labadieville, succeeding Father Trey Nelson. This past year Father Alello has been parochial vicar of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Prairieville. During the preceding year he served as parochial vicar in the cluster made up of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Convent, St. Joseph Parish in Paulina and Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Gramercy.
